Quality Engineer 40 hours per week
General Purpose
Develop relationships with manufacturing that will foster a positive partnership, facilitate resolution with customers and internal issues and drive systems, processes and continuous improvement. Knowledge of technical writing to ensure processes are properly documented. Offer support and knowledge of quality and disciplines to internal and external customers in the coordination of quality improvement efforts. Support our certifications including but not limited to SQF, HACCP, and ISO.
Principle Accountabilities
* Contributes effectively toward team goals, exhibits influence within a work group and continues to develop proficiency in the competency areas critical to success in the role.
* Involvement in specification, implementation, testing and/or release of product.
* Lead cross-functional teams for root cause analysis and corrective actions. (5 Why and 8D)
* Lead continuous improvement project teams and execute changes and improvements to the quality management system.
* Lead quality APQP/PPAP initiatives with new or changed products for manufacturing quality.
* Coordinates the development of verification and system validation plans from a variety of inputs to identify failure modes while managing risk and relative priority; evaluates analytical and experimental test results following engineering principles to verify that products meet internal technical requirements and to validate that solutions meet customer needs; produces recommendations with technical documentation to support product decisions.
* Resolve quality issues with suppliers and customers. Determine the nature of the nonconformance, identify responsibility and negotiate a mutually acceptable return or rework of product while preserving the Weener Plastics supplier and customer relationship.
* Identify, develop and implement systems and processes that will assure product conformance to specifications, including developing product specifications, procedures and test methods as required.
* Develop SOPs for company processes.
* Participate in internal and external quality systems audits as needed.
* Participate in SQF and ISO certifications on-site audits.
* Maintain all quality files and documents.
* Provide technical support to manufacturing, suppliers and customers.
* Support and adhere to all system procedures and company policies / procedures.
* Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Follow all safety regulations.
* Perform other related duties.
Position Differentiation by Level
Level 1 - Pay Range: $50,000 - $65,000
Education/Experience:
* Associate Degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred, or minimum 4 years experience as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing environment
* APQP/PPAP
* Supervisory experience
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Knowledge of statistics, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes.
* Professional and optimistic attitude, ability to work in a team environment
* Knowledge of injection molding and assembly processes
* Knowledge of packaging applications
Knowledge/Skills/Duties:
* Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
* Basic computer skills (Excel and Word)
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and work procedures
* Ability to communicate effectively with management and employees of organization

* Bachelor's Degree

Education/Experience:
* Same as level 1
* Minimum of 7 years experience as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing environment
* CQE Certification
Knowledge/Skills/Duties:
* Same as level 1
* Ability to identify trends
* Develop and amend procedures
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

* CQE certification
* SQF Practitioner and HAACP Certification

Level 3 - Pay Range: $80,001 - $95,000
Education/Experience:
* Same as level 1
* Minimum of 10 years experience as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing environment
