Role Objectives: Responsible for repair and maintenance of electrical components and equipment associated with the marine propulsion service industry including the following brands. (ZF, Schottel, Rolls-Royce, Aquamaster, Steerprop, Ulstien, Brunvoll) Key Responsibilities: Leading services to perform quality repairs, commissioning, and/or new construction installation on marine electronic components. Perform basic trouble shooting on the marine propulsion equipment listed in the objectives. Making the necessary arrangements and travel to job site for repairs needed. Performing Reporting when necessary Company credit card issued for job expenses ONLY. (Auto fuel, rental car, airfare, lodging, etc.) Participating in afterhours callouts or emergency callouts. Able to use company truck for business use. Advanced electrical related experience. Perform Sea-Trials when expected and provide exceptional customer support. Hands on support for installation, testing, and validating the operation of motor starters, electric, and PTO hydraulic and lubrication pumps, and ABB. Install all wire and cable as necessary by OEM recommendations. Using industry-specific tools to analyze and test marine electronics. Picking up parts and supplies from vendors when necessary. Assisting in hurricane procedures when required Maintain a clean and organized workplace. Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as distances, measurements, percentages, volume.
- Ability to apply common knowledge to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Valid TWIC and Drivers License (Passport a plus)
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; OR 10 years related experience or training.
- OEM training or experience
- Able to complete international ZF product training as necessary.
Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the Controls Engineer is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear, swim. It is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb, or balance. The Controls Engineer must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. These tasks are performed day or night and in all types of weather conditions. Work on/near deep water and electricity.
