Position Type: Administration - DistrictDate Posted: 11/4/2024Location: Education Support CenterClosing Date: 11/15/2024Primary Purpose: As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Chief of Staff directly oversees the Communications Department and serves as a strategic advisor and essential support to the Superintendent, ensuring the effective coordination of activities and priorities across the District's major administrative functions. This individual will recommend and implement solutions to District-wide issues, both internal and external, with the assistance of the Superintendent and Senior Leadership Team. The Chief of Staff provides operational assistance by managing special projects and leading key initiatives, by resolving complex issues that require executive leadership and direction, by supporting the outcomes of the Superintendent's Senior Leadership Team, and by ensuring that expectations and deadlines are clearly communicated to staff. The Chief of Staff serves as a key strategic planner, advisor, decision-maker, and problem solver for the Superintendent, ensuring that issues needing the Superintendent's attention are addressed promptly. In addition, the Chief of Staff represents the District and the Superintendent in public settings and across a range of government and community organizations, facilitating transparent communication with stakeholders and ensuring responsiveness to the needs of the Board, staff, and community. Core responsibilities also include shaping communication strategy, overseeing public relations efforts, and fostering stakeholder engagement to effectively convey district goals and achievements both internally and externally. Qualifications: Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Education, Communications, or a related field from an accredited college or university recognized by the US Department of Education.
  • Master's Degree preferred.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain current knowledge of, and adhere to, applicable provisions of federal, state, and district policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Ability to manage and complete projects with attention to detail, demonstrating strong organizational skills.

  • Capable of managing sensitive information with a high degree of confidentiality and integrity.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible administrative and supervisory experience in public relations, communications, or a strategic support role, preferably within a school district or public sector organization sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
