STV currently has openings for Bridge Design Engineers in the Transportation group in New York, New York.Senior Bridge Design Engineer Our New York, New York office has an extensive history delivering exciting and complex transportation projects for the New York City Metro AreaPosition Overview
  • Completes assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.
  • Assist in the development of project specifications.
  • Responsible for development of discipline specific engineering project elements/deliverables such as reports, designs, and plans.
  • Provides technical guidance to less experienced engineering project team members.
  • Works closely with other disciplines and on multi-discipline projects.
  • Performs quality control reviews of discipline - specific engineering project elements/deliverables.
  • Assists with coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work within discipline.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Proficient with design codes, structural modeling and design.
  • Cost control on projects and quality control within discipline.
  • Planning, design, and construction phases of projects.
  • Completeness and accuracy of design teamwork.
  • Technical liaison with client for work within the discipline.
  • Responsible for production of bridges, retaining walls, other miscellaneous structures, quantities, cost estimates, construction administration and final specifications.
  • Provide coordination of project execution and control on bridge design projects to achieve continuity of purpose within scope, budget, and schedules from initial start-up through final design.
  • Accountable for handling specific design aspects on projects.
  • Coordinate efforts of assigned design team to ensure completeness and accuracy of design effort.
  • Serve as technical liaison with client on project efforts.
Qualifications
  • Degree in civil engineering and 4 -7 years of relevant experience; Master's or PhD in Engineering preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred but not required.
    • Proficient with design codes, structural modeling, analysis, and design.
