* POSITION SUMMARY:* In collaboration with the Education Coordinator and in accordance with approved standards, policies and procedures serves as a program coordinator and program instructor for the Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Training Program. Plans and provides classroom instruction, laboratory skills practice and clinical supervision on resident units. Plans, schedules, and coordinates the New York State Nursing Home Nurse Adie certification examinations. Collaborates with members of the education department and health care system to serve as a resource regarding Certified Nurse Aide Training rules and regulations for certification, recertification, lapsed and reciprocity. Supports organization wide education initiatives.* QUALIFICATIONS:* EDUCATION:* Minimum:* Assiciate Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing* Preferred:* BSN or willingness to pursue* LICENSE:* Minimum:* Current New York State Registered Nurse Licensure* PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:* Minimum:* American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider Certification required with intent to pursue Basic Life Support (BLS) instructor course within 1 year.* WORK EXPERIENCE:* Minimum:* Two years experience as a registered professional nurse in a long term care setting.* Demonstrated competency to teach adult learners by either: a)successful completion of a professionally recognized course in teaching adult learners or New York State Education Department teacher certification; b) two years of experience teaching nursing or nursing related programs to adults in an academic setting approved by the State Education Department or other recognized accrediting body; or c) two years of experience teaching nurse aides in a long term care setting.* Preferred:* Prior experience teaching a Certified Nursing Assistant program.* SKILLS:* Minimum:* Background experience in use of audiovisual equipment and development of visual teaching aides.* Must have adult education skills in identifying learning needs, developing and implementing programs and evaluating outcomes.* Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a complex, multi-entity, multi-cultural health system.* Ability to facilitate project management, work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.* Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.* Familiarity with JCAHO requirements.* Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication (written and oral), analytical, and organizational skills.* Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with the public in a professional and courteous manner.* Computer literacy required with word processing, spreadsheets* Preferred:* Experience with Microsoft Office products including word, excel and power point.* Salary $80,000.00-$85,000.00
