In the ambulatory care setting, the Registered Nurse provides a range of nursing care, including routine office procedures, medication administration, patient triage, referrals, and follow-up care. Additionally, the Registered Nurse supports the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care within Student Health Services.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:* Assesses and triages patients in an ambulatory care setting consistent with health services policies and philosophies.* Identifies nursing needs of patients, including clinical care and patient education, and addresses those needs within the defined nursing practice parameters.* Promotes service standards and creates a patient-focused caring environment while meeting individual patient needs.* Evaluates patient education needs and provides instructions or referrals to appropriate providers.* Communicates effectively with the healthcare team to enhance patient care.* Advocates for patients, ensuring their rights to privacy, safety, and confidentiality are upheld.* Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for nursing practice in relation to judgment and actions.* Fosters an environment of collaboration and respect with nurse practitioners, physicians, nurses, NP students, and other healthcare team members.* Maintains compassionate relationships with colleagues, promoting fair treatment and conflict resolution.* Commits to preserving integrity and safety for self and others while pursuing professional growth.* Seeks educational opportunities for professional growth and shares learned information with colleagues.* Maintains active membership in national and regional professional health organizations to stay informed.* Attends and participates in university meetings and in-service offerings as needed to contribute to team goals.* Serves as an advocate for student health on campus, effectively communicating information about the Student Health Center to students.* Performs other related duties as assigned.Qualifications* Bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing program required.* Active and unencumbered New York State Registered Nurse license.* Minimum of two years of experience as a registered nurse.* Basic Life Support certification.Preferred Qualifications* Experience in higher education or working with young adults preferred.* Interest in patient education with experience in individual and small group sessions.* Minimum one year in an emergency department, obstetrical triage unit, or other high-risk areas.* Specialty certifications desired.Special Instructions Deadline Open Until Filled Date Posted 11/04/2024 EEO StatementHofstra University is an equal opportunity employer, committed to fostering diversity in its faculty, administrative staff and student body, and encourages applications from the entire spectrum of a diverse community.Salary/Salary Range $95,000Additional InformationHofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
