In this role, you'll get to flex your tech muscles designing, securing, and optimizing network and cybersecurity solutions that protect and connect our core systems. Our priority is to fill the Network and Security Solutions Engineer position, which addresses our immediate needs. The general working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.Salary Information:Effective January 1, 2025, this position will receive a cost-of-living adjustment (salary increase) of two percent (2.0%). Benefits include:
  • Excellent benefit package for the employee and qualified family members with low monthly out-of-pocket Currently, the employee-paid premium is approx. $51/mo. for employee-only coverage up to a max of $147/mo. for family coverage.
  • City-paid contribution to a VEBA Trust account for out-of-pocket healthcare expenses. Currently, the annual contribution is $1,000 for employee-only and $2,000 for employee plus dependent(s).

  • 10 paid holidays plus an additional 24 hours of floating holiday pay per year

Essential Functions/Duties & Responsibilities Position Descriptions: Network and Security Solutions Engineer: Job Description System Administrator: Job Description Qualifications & RequirementsPosition Qualifications/Salary Range:Network and Security Solutions Engineer: $39.17 to $49.99 hourly A bachelor's degree in computer science or a closely related field and five years of experience as a Network Engineer or similar position. Special Requirements:
  • Must pass an FBI Personnel Background Screening as this position has access and supports Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS Data), which includes LEDS, for the Albany Police Department.
  • Professional certifications such as: CISSP, CISA, CISM, GIAC, CGEIT, CRISC, CEH, or other relevant industry certification strongly preferred.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver's license.
  • The individual shall not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of themselves or others.
  • System Administrator:$34.62 - $44.15 hourly An associate degree with a major in computer science or a closely related field and a minimum of five years of experience as a System Administrator and three years as an IT Technician. Special Requirements:
  • Must successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation, including criminal history check, and integrity interview that establishes strong moral character. Any conduct that could compromise the integrity of the applicant, coworkers, the City of Albany, or the City's cybersecurity insurance rating will be closely evaluated. Felony convictions and disqualifying criminal histories are not allowed.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain High Voltage Environment (HVE) certification within one year of job placement. The City will facilitate this certification, if assigned.
  • Possession of MCP, MCSE, and/or CCNA desirable.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver's license.
