Chief Diversity OfficerPOSITION DETAILSBrooklyn College, a top-ranked public college in The City University of New York system, invites applications for the position of Chief Diversity Officer (CDO). Reporting to the President, the CDO is responsible for managing the Office of Diversity & Equity; creating diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging programs, activities, and initiatives designed to foster a climate that encourages respect for diversity among faculty, staff, and student groups; and aligning the objectives of diversity and compliance with the mission of the college. The CDO will collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and affinity groups to cultivate a learning and workplace climate that embraces and sustains diversity and inclusion. This position serves as a member of the President's Extended Cabinet and will counsel the college's administration, faculty, and staff regarding equal employment opportunity (EEO), affirmative action, and related compliance procedures. The CDO works closely with Legal Affairs & Labor Designee, Human Resources, department chairs, administrators, and partners with campus leaders, faculty, staff, students, various committees, and external constituencies.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Ensures the College's compliance with federal, state, and city regulations and University mandates on non-discrimination and equal opportunity.Oversees the implementation of the College Affirmative Action Plan.Investigates and oversees investigations of complaints involving faculty, students, and staff.Develops and makes recommendations to the College Strategic Planning Committee.Collaborates with Human Resources in the recruitment process.Prepares internal and external reports as needed.Conduct periodic compensation and adverse impact analysis.Develops and administers training programs and curriculum.Consults with College executives on further training needs.Represents Brooklyn College on various committees and programs.Serves as the liaison to the City University of New York.Other responsibilities as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's Degree and eight years' relevant experience required.Preferred QualificationsAdvanced degree in a related field or juris doctorate strongly preferred.A record of successful leadership in the EEO/compliance/affirmative action/diversity arena.Experience in higher education and a unionized environment.Self-directed, results-oriented with strong judgment.High degree of personal integrity and professionalism.Experience in supervising and coaching staff.Strong analytical, evaluative, and research skills.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments.Proficiency using computers and standard office applications.CUNY TITLE OVERVIEWOversees programs, activities, and initiatives designed to foster a climate that respects pluralism and diversity.Develops effective strategies to promote diversity in faculty and staff hiring.Coordinates recruitment plans, advertising, and selection processes.Implements the College's Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity policies.Collects and analyzes data for College and University reports.Develops and presents training programs related to Diversity, EEO, and compliance.Maintains current knowledge related to laws, rules, and best practices.Performs related duties as assigned.CUNY TITLEHigher Education OfficerFLSAExemptCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS$124,656 - $141,858; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
