Position Description We are recruiting a Controls Engineering Project Manager to join a growing team within a National Engineering firm. The Project Manager is responsible for working with the business operations manager to build and maintain client relations to effectively manage large complex multi-year projects involving the design and implementation of automation/control solutions including DCS, PLC, HMI, and SCADA platforms. The Project Manager is responsible for working closely with all teams to successfully plan, schedule, manage, execute, and complete projects on time, on budget and with high customer satisfaction. The Project Manager leads the project team by following a standard project methodology to a successful project conclusion.
Position Responsibilities - End-to-end responsibility of the project - financial, quality, schedule, safety
- Prepare and approve charters and execution plans for complex projects
- Assists in the development of project management tools and best practices
- Supervise engineering staff to complete assignments
- Build complex project schedules, manage critical path, float, and project health via schedule
- Manage customer relationships and business expectations during project execution
- Develops earned value analysis
- Develop and maintain risk analysis and mitigation planning for projects
- Manage other tasks, vendor equipment, and subcontractor performance
- Manage project budgets, effort, variances, change orders, and invoices
- Develop and communicate Status Reports, Earned Value Reports, Estimate to Complete Reports, and Committed Cost Reports for medium to complex projects
- Prepare and manage project quality plans
- Help develop project proposals
- Communicate clearly and effectively with customer
Desirable Education, Skills and Experience - Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Project management experience leading medium to large scale automation and controls projects in excess of $1M
- Organizational and influencing/soft skills
- Advanced oral and written communication skills
- Design of electrical schematics, including power distribution, control panels
- Leading a team of engineers/technicians to provide control system solutions
- PLC ladder logic and function block programming (i.e. Rockwell Automation, Emerson, Siemens)
- SCADA programming, scripting, and their applications (i.e. Cimplicity, Wonderware, Intellution, Rockwell Automation, Emerson)
- Knowledge in Databases, SQL, Scripting, Historian and Virtual Machines
- Mentoring less experienced engineers
- PMP certification
