Position Objective The Value Stream Manager overall responsibility is for a defined set of Value Streams, product lines or production shifts in the manufacturing area and oversight of all activities to ensure Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost deliverables are met. Supervisory responsibility for Production Supervisors and some Technicians within defined Value Stream. Indirect oversight of the product support team member to direct priorities for near term and long-term countermeasures for the value streams. The Value Stream Manager is a member of the Operations Leadership Team and reports directly to the Director of Manufacturing Operations.
Production/Quality Responsibilities - Develop/maintain the Sparton Operating System that ensures stable and smooth production.
- Monitor production KPI's, production problems and planning activities.
- Develop/maintain systems and procedures to ensure that problems are properly investigated, fixed and countermeasures are effective.
- Monitor and ensure built-in-quality in each product line and in final product.
- Follow up with direct and indirect reports on all KPI results (Safety-Quality-Delivery-Cost) for countermeasure development and execution to expected timelines.
- Develop/maintain visual management systems to highlight all abnormal conditions.
- Ensure that Sparton Operating System principles are followed completely in all Value Stream areas.
Management Related Responsibilities - Lead organization of escalation and communications for emerging production disruptions.
- Ensure the continual development of direct reports by providing them training in operations, leadership skills, and management skills.
- Monitor the performance of each product line with S-Q-D-C. Take appropriate actions to improve as required.
- Work with direct and indirect reports to develop improvement targets for S-Q-D-C and assist in developing improvement plans. Follow up on progress frequently.
- Support direct and indirect reports by making sure all support and resources needed to the product lines to perform effectively and continue to improve S-Q-D-C.
- Monitor staffing and cross-training requirements are met to ensure production demands are met with efficiency.
- Interface with HR in serious personnel issues (Production Supervisors should handle minor issues).
- Conduct administrative / business task such as developing, submitting and reconciling budgets and conducting performance reviews.
- Ensure proper 6S conduction with the product lines.
- Interface with other support areas ( air coverage for the Value Stream).
- Lead and participate as owner for assigned Value Stream(s) in Performance Management review, such as MBR's, Gemba Walks, Daily Business Reviews, and other sessions.
Experience/Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in business or a technical discipline, or equivalent level of experience.
- A minimum of 10 years of manufacturing and supervisory experience in related field.
- Previous experience as a first line supervisor is preferred. Experience successfully managing a 24/7 or multi-shift operation is a plus.
- U.S. Citizenship is required

- Required computer skills include experience with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS Potential extended workdays, work outside of regular shifts is periodically required as necessary to keep the line running. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, talk and communicate, use hands/finger, feel and reach with arms. This position requires the ability to lift, bend or stoop as necessary up to 25 lbs.
