Woodruff Arts Center employees play an integral role in creating and supporting great art and education initiatives at the nation's third largest arts center. Comprised of three Art Partners-Alliance Theatre, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and High Museum of Art-there's a role for everyone at The Woodruff. Reports to: Associate Director, Retail FLSA: United States of America (Non-Exempt) Employment Status: Temporary/Part time ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION The High Museum of Art, founded in 1905 as the Atlanta Art Association, is the leading art museum in the Southeastern United States. With over 11,000 works of art in its permanent collection, the High Museum of Art has an extensive anthology of 19th- and 20th-century American art; significant holdings of European paintings and decorative art; a growing collection of African American art; and burgeoning collections of modern and contemporary art, photography and African art. The High is also dedicated to supporting and collecting works by Southern artists and is distinguished as the only major museum in North America to have a curatorial department specifically devoted to the field of folk and self-taught art. The High's Media Arts department produces acclaimed annual film series and festivals of foreign, independent and classic cinema. In November 2005, the High opened three new buildings by architect Renzo Piano that more than doubled the Museum's size, creating a vibrant village for the arts at the Woodruff Arts Center in Midtown Atlanta.   • Engage and assist Museum visitors with shop purchases.
  • Provide excellent customer service and always portray a positive, professional image of the High Museum of Art.
  • Assist with merchandise display and restocking.
  • Assist with daily store cleaning.
  • Assist customer inquiries and way finding in the Museum.
  • Assist with annual shop inventory.
  • Execute Museum shop initiatives to include Round-up donations and Memberships.
  • Must be available for a flexible work schedule.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma and at least one year of retail experience.
  • Knowledge of Art History desirable.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
  • Ability to communicate well with Museum staff, Museum members, Museum volunteers and other shop patrons.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
  • Ability to compute rates and percentages.
  • Ability to balance a cash register.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
