Position SummaryThe Office of Technology Management at Washington University in St. Louis is looking to fill the following positions:- Licensing Associate- Senior Licensing AssociateThese positions are responsible for supporting the workload of the Business Development Directors and Business Development Associates with respect to assessing technology, marketing technologies, and negotiating simple agreements.
Job DescriptionPrimary Duties & Responsibilities: - Our laboratory models human genetic disorders in the nematode, C. elegans. The ultimate goal of our research is to better understand the disease and develop therapeutic strategies for treatment. We utilize well-established genetic tools and cutting-edge high-throughput technology to identify genetic and chemical modifiers that alter disease outcome.

More About This JobWork on this team generally includes activities, such as:
- Completing Technology Assessment and Commercial/Patent Reassessment on invention disclosure within established OTM time frames in support of Business Development Directors and Business Development Associates. This assessment should include an evaluation of patentability and commercial opportunity. Recommendations will be made on appropriate IP protection (patent or copyright) and patent conversions.
- Negotiating contracts including material transfer agreements, confidentiality agreements, and license agreements for research tools and copyrights.
- Developing marketing materials and website information on IP-protected cases. Marketing IP and establish contacts with potential licensees.
- Entering data relating to technologies and licensing activities of the business development directors and business development associates.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience in closing business transactions and negotiating contracts.
- Business experience in private industry or an MBA degree would be a plus.
