JOB TITLE: Porter Independent LivingDEPARTMENT: MaintenanceREPORTS TO: Maintenance DirectorPOSITION TYPE: Full time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00am 4:00pm.Will be scheduled based on the operational need (rotate shift, standby, on-call)CLASSIFICATION: Non-ExemptPOSITION SUMMARY:Responsible for performing the heavier tasks associated with daily cleaning in the Independent Living facilities and setup/reset tables & chairs for campus events.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.* Provide heavy cleaning which includes scrubbing, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, floor shampooing, stripping & waxing, spill removal, removing trash to outside containers, and moving furniture, etc. in common areas as scheduled.* Perform setup and reset of public meeting areas for scheduled events/gatherings as needed.* Maintain care and use of supplies and equipment; make regular inspections of building areas.* As required, provide services in adjacent hallways/corridors.* Report all unusual conditions, behaviors, and/or resident concerns to the appropriate Management/Supervisory staff in a timely manner.* Respond and react in a kind, polite, and professional manner with residents, families, visitors, co-workers, and supervisors.* May be required to work independently or assist others in the cleaning of other facilities or residences of the organization.* May be required to perform other duties in keeping with the nature of this position which will not significantly alter the job requirements.* Must adhere to all facility and departmental Fire, Disaster, Threat, and Emergency procedures.* Adheres to all organizational and departmental policies and procedures in the performance of position responsibilities.* Must attend organizational and/or departmental training sessions and/or in-services as scheduled.* Demonstrate interest and commitment to work with a diverse senior population.* Maintain and facilitate a caring, compassionate and understanding relationship with residents by answering all questions and concerns.* Dress professionally an in accordance with the companys dress code.* Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant it using good judgement and ethical conduct.* Able to perform job duties and work independently with frequent interruptions.* Able to read, write and speak English in a cogent and professional manner.* Able to organize, prioritize, and manage time, multiple tasks and projects.* Capable of concentrating with large volumes of work and handle pressure.* Possess the ability to maintain reliable on-site attendance.* Able to work mandatory work days and mandatory OT as needed.* Able to meet the physical demands and working environment of the position.* Able to follow procedures.Education and/or Experience:* One or more years of experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility or patient care setting preferred* Associate Degree Preferred; High School Diploma required
