Job Title: Automation TechnicianJob DescriptionWe are looking for an Automation Technician to join the maintenance department on the 3rd shift at a large glass manufacturing facility. This is a long-term contract position lasting until December 2026, aimed at keeping production lines running and facilitating the shutdown of the location.
Responsibilities- Perform electrical troubleshooting in the assigned manufacturing area, including programming and troubleshooting PLCs, Servos, and robotics to eliminate downtime.
- Manage machine vision systems.
- Partner with team members to complete continuous improvement activities utilizing Six Sigma methodologies.
- Assist with HMI troubleshooting, upgrading, and installing.
- Undertake project work, including robot and PLC upgrades, and equipment upgrades.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Essential Skills- Demonstrated experience in manufacturing maintenance, electrical troubleshooting, mechanical maintenance, and control circuits.
- Expertise in automation, programming, controls engineering, and pneumatics.
- Experience with Fanuc systems and automation systems.
- Proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting.
- Strong technical knowledge to program controls, preferably Allen-Bradley and/or Modicon controls.
- Applicable Degree and/or Associate's degree with 8+ years of experience dealing with highly complex automation equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience using Six Sigma to improve processes is preferred.
- Knowledge of glass cutting, edging, and bending for the automotive industry would be beneficial.
- Ability to communicate effectively with operators, peers, management, and vendors.
- Ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve mechanical problems.
- Ability to plan, organize, and share information effectively.
- Ability to work independently and manage projects to established timelines.

Work EnvironmentThis position is based in a large glass manufacturing facility. The working conditions can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. The facility currently has 390 full-time employees, with the maintenance department being reduced to 20 technicians.
