Summary Dunmore is seeking three motivated and detail-oriented Plant Interns to join our Brewster Plant team. This internship is ideal for students majoring in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering with a focus on Automation Engineering. The interns will work on projects aimed at streamlining process standardization and analyzing the automation of machinery and tasks to enhance efficiency. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in the implementation and sustainability of process standardization across various plant operations.
  • Work with plant engineers to develop and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and quality in processes.
  • Analyze the automation of machinery, tasks, and processes to identify opportunities for greater efficiency.
  • Support the evaluation and optimization of automated systems and workflows to improve productivity and reduce downtime.
  • Contribute to projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency through automation and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to gather data, perform analyses, and develop recommendations for process enhancements.
  • Document findings, process changes, and improvements.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on project progress, results, and recommendations for management review.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and engineering, to understand and address plant challenges.
  • Participate in team meetings and workshops to gain insights into plant operations and industry best practices.
  • Travel and connect with interns from across the company at the Steel Partners intern summit.
  • Prepare and deliver a final presentation summarizing your internship experience and key learnings.

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an interest in process optimization and automation.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively. Education and Experience
      • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering with a focus on Automation Engineering, or a related field.
      • Familiarity with automation technologies and process control systems.
      • Experience or coursework related to industrial automation, process engineering, or machinery optimization.
      • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and process improvement methodologies. Physical Demands - OFFICE / TRAVEL
