Position Summary
The Operating Room Assistant performs patient and non-patient functions under the direction of the Registered Professional Nurse. Duties include but are not limited to transport of patients into and from the Operating Room, assisting with positioning of patient, assisting with the turnover of the OR room by bringing in and removing equipment from the OR rooms, stocking supplies in the OR rooms and maintaining orderliness of supplies and equipment in the OR storage areas, retrieves ordered medications from pharmacy and blood from blood bank, assists in picking cases, reports any equipment in need of repair to the appropriate persons, performs clerical duties and all other duties as assigned
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:

* Attends staff meetings as required/ requested.
* Utilizes cost containment practices.
* Adheres to all WPHC policies and procedures including dress code, code of conduct, customer service, attendance and submission of annual physical.
* Performs other duties as assigned

Education & Experience Requirements
High School Diploma/Equivalency
Previous experience in hospital or with patient care preferred

Communicates effectively (written and verbal) in English
Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements & Work Environment
* May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital's SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital's Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc.
* Must be physically able to frequently transport heavy objects more than 50 lbs and lift patients of all weights with a minimum of one (1) assist or assistive device; perform difficult manipulative, arm - hand steadiness and hand - eye coordination skills; walk and stand for prolonged periods of time. Must be physically able to meet all regulatory requirements 100% of the time.
* Must have the ability to concentrate on fine detail with interruption and attend to tasks for more than 60 minutes at a time frequently.
* Individual must be able to understand theories behind several related concepts and remember multiple tasks given during the course of a day.
* Must be able to detect objects closely and far away and hears normal sounds with some background noises.

Salary Range: $36,814.05-$55,210.35
