Position Title: Head of Growth & Operations - Seasons Reporting To: GM & VP HR Location: NASA Business Unit: Seasons Department: Operations Direct Reports: Sales and Operations Date: 2024 Job Summary Seasons is a next-generation claw machine, e-commerce and merchandise business being internally incubated at LAI Games, a global leader in the amusement machines industry. We are searching for an exceptional business builder who can take this new business unit from 0 to 1. Initially, the role will operate within the framework of the LAI Games organisation. When the business scales to standalone viability, we expect this person to lead a more independent business unit. In Order to Be Successful:
- Candidate will need to be comfortable with the ambiguity and opportunities of owning a P&L nested within an existing business. They will need to leverage the advantages (resources, processes, infrastructure) of the group, while maintaining high entrepreneurial velocity.
- Candidate will need to develop effective strategies & execute across three diverse growth drivers: creating a sizeable installed base of machines, developing an attractive range of merchandise, and successful e-commerce operations to connect the dots between the install base and the merchandise.
Objectives
- Define & execute a go-to-market strategy to widely proliferate Seasons amusement and vending machines & merchandise across the North American market.
- Machine business: lead the logistics, sales, marketing, and after-sales service functions of Seasons machines, initially working with the LAI Games team & infrastructure, to create a large installed base of machines.
- Merchandise business: procure and develop attractive ranges of in-demand merchandise to be sold to operators of Seasons machines and across all industry channels, developing this as the primary revenue driver of the Seasons business.
- E-Commerce business: develop and operate a sophisticated, low-touch e-commerce operation which fulfils orders to modern standards of user experience and convenience.
- Build & lead a high-performing team. Initially, you will need to operate successfully within a both a matrixed reporting structure, while managing a small number of dedicated headcount.
- Own the Seasons P&L: with key metrics being the sales of new machines (to build install base), high-margin recurring merchandise sales into the install base and across the industry, while carefully managing for profitability, gross and operating margins, and cash flow.
- Run a Tight Ship: this business requires excellence in operations for all three key growth drivers (machines, merchandise, e-commerce). The role is responsible for driving continuous improvement across all related operational activities including, but not limited to compliance, risk management, fulfilment, inventory management, sales & marketing, procurement, and financial management.
Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years' experience in FMCG sales, operations or product management from the trend driven segments such as fashion, toys and collectables.
- Strong knowledge of consumer behavior.
- You need to be a people-person: confident, empathetic, a great listener, and possess excellent communication skills (both written and spoken).
- High level of intellectual curiosity. You possess the ability to think on your feet.
