Home Health Aide (HHA) Independent Contractor Responsibilities

We are searching for a self-motivated independent Home Health Aide (HHA) contractor, with our shared values, to become a part of our team! The independent contractor's responsibilities include completing assigned tasks with minimal supervision. You should also complete and file your tax returns in a timely manner. You will provide routine healthcare in a patient's home.

To ensure success as an independent contractor, you should possess excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ultimately, an outstanding Independent Contractor will produce high-quality work with minimal supervision.

Summary Responsibilities

The Home Health Aide Contractor will assist patients in their homes with all daily activities under the instruction of the RN Case Manager. These activities include everyday living, housekeeping, bathing and dressing, transportation, cooking, shopping, toileting, medication, mobility, and continence care as defined by the Plan of Care. The ideal person for this position has the experience, compassion, and a solid understanding of all aspects of patient home health care.

Responsibilities:

  • Support daily activities – Follows the Plan of Care ensuring patients' safety and well-being are met by facilitating social interactions, therapeutic conversations, and secure environments. Offer prompts to the patient if needed, such as toileting, eating, and any liquid needs. Observe the patients' medical health as well as their physical and mental responses. Provide written and verbal reports about the patients' condition and guidance to their families. Exercise the patient as needed.
  • Apply compliance knowledge – Demonstrate knowledge of all aspects of patient care by using a sensitive approach. Establishes a trusting relationship with the patient and family while maintaining confidentiality. Knowledge and compliance of all state patients' rights are required.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required and current state license as applicable
  • Complete minimum state-mandated training hours, if applicable
  • Safe driving record with reliable transportation and car insurance
  • Must be able to pass a drug test and background check
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Must be free from health problems that may be injurious to client, self and/or other caregivers and must present appropriate evidence to substantiate health status
  • Working knowledge of client-based equipment
  • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision
