About the St. Lukes Rehabilitation InstituteOpened in Sept. 1, 2019, the Institute serves patients recovering from stroke, brain injuries, spine, cardiovascular, trauma, pulmonary, and orthopedic conditions.Currently comprised of 4 experienced PMR Physicians, 200 Therapists, 130 Nursing Staff and a highly engaged administrative leadership.Welcoming 100,000 sq/ft facility with space and resources for additional dedicated service line build outs. Main floor gym contains 17 pieces of leading edge, high tech, robotic equipment not available anywhere else in region.11,000 sq. ft. outdoor garden featuring many different surfaces for patients to navigate. 60 bed layout includes both private rooms and model apartments.Discharge-to-home rate exceeding regional/national averages.Patient-to-therapist ratio of 5 to 1.For more information about the St. Lukes Rehabilitation Institute, please visit: the PositionThe Medical Director role is hybrid of clinical activity and administrative leadership with full oversight of administrative, clinical, financial, research activities within the department of Rehabilitation. Reporting to the CEO of Saint Lukes Physician Group, will build close working relationships across the entire system and will provide general physician leadership of Saint Lukes Physician Group physiatrists, and clinical leadership of the overall Saint Lukes Rehabilitation Institute.This physician leader will oversee the continued development of a broad array of rehabilitation programs to compliment the health systems already strong stroke rehabilitation program. These programs include amputee, brain injury, cancer, neuropsychology, spasticity, spinal cord injury, etc.He or she will provide clinical leadership and direction to capitalize on the SLRIs expansive robotics portfolio through improved integration into care plans, additional robotics-focused outcomes research, working with developers of emerging technologies and equipment, partnership with marketing to develop patient success stories, and collaboration with the SLHS Foundation to cultivate funds to support the ongoing maintenance and acquisition of the Institutes robotics fleetThe Medical Director will work collaboratively with clinical liaisons and admissions team to establish patient screening and admission criteria, as well as workflows to enable compliant, efficient and effective patient admission decisions.A partnership with nursing and administrative leadership will be critical to ensuring the SLRI is run optimally efficient and effectively. The Medical Director will also provide the physician perspective on key operational attributes such as (but not limited to): cadence of admissions/discharges, team meeting frequency and structure, physician rounding, therapy administration, LOS management, documentation, etc.Engage with other clinical specialties (e.g.: cardiology, urology, surgery, wound care, orthopedics, etc.) to ensure the institutes ability to care for and manage medically complex patients.In partnership with the disciplines of nursing and therapy, a focus to develop education and workforce development programs will be instrumental in the development of non-physician bedside caregivers.About Saint Lukes Health SystemSaint Lukes is a faith-based, not-for-profit, aligned health system committed to providing the highest levels of excellence in clinical quality and compassionate patient care.
