Job Summary
This position provides assistance with the Early Alert System (EAS) for Georgia Highlands College. This learning support service seeks to provide feedback and support to students who have demonstrated behaviors within the first six weeks of the semester that may hinder academic performance and success. The service is an academic partnership between faculty/staff and students to provide individualized support to identify academic challenges, resources, and strategies to address academic challenges.
Responsibilities
* Is responsible to understand, support, and carry out the colleges mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies
* Provides general administrative support to the Director of Tutoring & Learning Support Services
* Researches and identifies support resources
* Schedules and manages student appointments
* Provides one-on-one learning instruction to students across various disciplines
* Assists students to access online tutoring platform for tutoring sessions
* Assists with maintaining records and reports
* Maintains timely and proper communication with students, faculty, and staff of the college via phone, email, and other electronic means
* Communicates with faculty, staff , and students as required in providing learning support services
* Communicates effectively in a professional, tactful, and courteous manner with students, employees, faculty, and the general public
* Performs other assigned duties
Required Qualifications
* Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of an associate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field
* Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one (1) year
* Equivalent Combination of Experience and/or Education two (2) years
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor degree in course of study related to the occupation field
* Experience in use of Banner
