Location: Onsite in Columbus, OH, Broken Arrow, OK, Dallas, TX or remote6 month contractMax bill rate $155OverviewThe teammate will be working in our client's mixed technology environment to deliver data products providing decision support for business and customers. As part of a highly collaborative team, the role will interact with technical and business resources within and outside of IT organization. The ideal candidate is a committed, creative, self-motivated technologist who is interested in practicing current skills and learning new ones.Primary Duties and Responsibilities Deploy, configure, patch and upgrade database servers and client installs, with a focus of Oracle server production supportTroubleshoot and fix problems and provide root cause analysis in a timely mannerPerform preventive maintenance and system copiesAutomate system maintenance tasksDevelop, manage and test backup and recovery plansEnsure storage and archiving processes are functioning correctlyWrite database documentation, including data standards, procedures and data dictionaryCarry out capacity planningManage security and disaster recovery aspect of a databaseEvaluate SQL Server performance and take appropriate steps for performance improvementProvide 24x7 on-call support, after hours and weekend work as neededRelational database design and developmentDesign OLTP and OLAP environments, and monitor, detect and tune performanceComplete other tasks as requiredExperience, Education and Skills 5-6+ years of experience building and administering production level high performance, high transaction volume, and highly available OLTP databases (Oracle and/or SQL Server)5-6+ years of experience developing, maintaining, and implementing logical and physical data models and PL/SQL or T-SQL solutions in support of complex software development projects5-6+ years of experience designing and implementing large-scale ETL processes, including data initialization, loading, and conversion5-6+ years of experience creating and maintaining database documentation and diagrams3+ years of experience conducting performance monitoring and tuning operations3+ years of experience administering database security protocolsKnowledge of current DBMS products, primarily Oracle 11g and 12c and SQL Server 2014+, as well as knowledge of related technologies, applications, and processesAbility to write clear, concise, efficient, and effective DDL, DML, and PL/SQL or T-SQLKnowledge of relational database internals, objects, and processes, as well as best practice principles regarding availability, performance, and securityExperience working with high availability tools, particularly DataGuard or AlwaysOnExperience installing OEM and configure to monitor Oracle instancesExperience writing shell scripts to automate database activitiesDemonstrated skill using database backup and recovery models, utilities, and best practicesBachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, and work experienceFamiliar with Agile development methodologyExcellent analytical skillsExcellent interpersonal skills and proficiency to meet face-to-face with internal business customersAbility to manage multiple, shifting-priority projectsGeneral Requirements Lead and mentor resources on a temporary basisExhibit and practice courteous, ethical and professional behavior while interacting with both internal and external customersAct in a collaborative, team-oriented environment focused on common goals to achieve mutually beneficial resultsBe accountable and responsible for the accuracy and completeness of assigned work and resultsPrioritize and manage work load and communicate issues clearlyExhibit effective verbal and written communication skillsComply with all laws, regulations and company policiesTravel when required
