JobSummaryThe AssistantDirector Engineering serves to maintain the entire hotel facility, includingthe physical building structure,all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and related equipment in accordancewith energy conservationand preventative maintenance programs. Ensure the upkeep of guest areas tomaintain an attractivehotel. Management-level associates are expected to work as much of each workdayas is necessaryto complete their job responsibilities; for exempt associates, overtime doesapply and is calculated accordingly. There is minimal direct supervisionEducation& Experience•Highschool or equivalent education required. Bachelor's Degree or related technicalschool degreepreferred.•Fiveto seven years in a major hotel, hospital, or building, including four years ina supervisory capacity•Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates,or permits. •Mustpossess, or have the ability and experience to acquire, a first-class operatingengineer's license in boilersand air conditioning as required.•Mustbe able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used inthe workplace.•Mustbe able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.•Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.•Mosttasks are performed in a team environment with the employee acting as a teamleader.•Mustpossess basic computational ability.•Mustpossess knowledge of Microsoft Office & Outlook programs as well as abilityto operate or learnto operate maintenance program computer skills.•Knowledge of computer accounting programs, math skills as well as budgetaryanalysis capabilities required.•Knowledge of Marriott Brand service standards and ability to coach, train anddevelop service professionals to perform to AAA Four-Diamond and personalized MarriottBrand service and physical quality.•Musthave a thorough knowledge of all types of mechanical equipment such aschillers, boilers, water softeners, and refrigeration equipment.•Musthave thorough knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems, maintenance ofrecords of power, water and fuel consumption.•Musthave experience in office procedures, ordering materials, securing bids, and ofcity codes andother applicable building laws, building construction, blueprint reading, etc.•Maybe required: to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructionsfurnished in written,oral, or diagram form; to deal with problems involving several concretevariables in standardizedsituations.JobDuties & Functions•Conduct walk-throughs and visually assess the safe and efficient maintenanceand operation of the physical structure(s) of the hotel, all mechanical,electrical, HVAC systems and any other related equipment.•Verify completion of all routine maintenance on public spaces, meeting rooms,ballrooms, outlets, back of the house spaces, grounds, restaurants, poolcomplexes, fitness center, spa, and commercial spaces. Verify completion of allrepairs, replacement, and renovation projects to offices and employee workareas.•Assist in hiring, training, supervising, and disciplining department staff, andall other staff under direction of the Engineering Department.•Adhere to all corporate-required purchasing policies and controls, including,but not limited to, all outside contractor bids, budgets, and schedules. Followprescribed safety procedures for personneland equipment by the company and OSHA.•Maintain effective Energy Management and Preventive Maintenance programs andconduct special training for other operating departments on the safe andefficient use of equipment and energy in the hotel.•Inform the General Manager and hotel department heads on a regular basisregarding the specific and overall condition of the building structure(s),related systems, and equipment offering prudent, cost-effective proposals formaintaining these systems. Access and input information into a computer andgenerate reports.•Review and understand all agreements and ensure all HOA/CDD billings areaccurate.•Supervise necessary repairs and maintenance throughout the hotel.•Prepare technical data, bidding, project work, alterations, and repairs forproperties. Must have basic knowledge of building codes.•Actively train in fire prevention, environmental health and safety, andengineering systems. •Attendall meetings regarding hotel operations, i.e., department, fire, safety, health,and quality improvement.•Oversee daily and weekly payrolls. Prepare departmental manpower schedules.•Oversee water treatment programs.•Attend morning walk around as required.•Professionally represent the hotel in community and industry organizations andevents.•Participate as a team player with all departments.•Provide constructive feedback to all departments.•Be aleader and a role model to all employees.
