US:MD:HUGHESVILLEFULL TIMESouthern Maryland Electric Cooperative has an immediate opening for a Substation Technicians Field Supervisor. The primary position functions are to direct the Substation technicians and provides technical assistance with installation, testing, operations, and maintenance of: The control and protection systems for new or upgraded stations including programing of digital systems and low voltage wiring of equipment. Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, microwave based communication system, Licensed 900 MHz multiple address system (MAS) for substation communications, Licensed VHF mobile radio system, Fiber optic communication equipment, and SONET Multiplex Equipment (To be replaced by MPLS and DWDM). The Substation Technicians Field Supervisor will act as a liaison between field personnel and technical engineering staff by influencing the design of communication and protective systems and participation in testing of relaying communication schemes. This position will also provide the necessary 24-hour technical support for system reliability for all electronic systems. Key personal traits and characteristics needed to succeed and thrive in this position include being a team player, detailed oriented and willing to work at a high level technical environment both in the office and the field. Candidates are required to have a two year college degree in electronic communications and/or protective relaying system protection. Equivalent experience in lieu of education will be considered, with required specialized training in IP data communications, RF communications, and SONET communications. Candidate must have eight or more years of progressive experience in RF and IP communications including IP networking, mobile radio, point-to-multipoint radios, and cellular communications. Computer skills are required. The starting salary range for this position is $90,900-$117,800 based on qualifications.
