Job DescriptionResponsible for nutritional care of patients in assigned units. Plans, assesses, implements and evaluates patient nutritional care plan. Documents nutrition care plans in patient medical record, according to hospital policies and procedures. Assist in menu modifications and other nutritional related functions.RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Interviews patient and/or family for nutritional history.2. Obtains patient food preferences.3. Assesses patients and documents in patients' medical record, according tohospital policies and procedures.4. Recommends nutrition care plans to medical staff for review and consideration.5. Recommends therapeutic diet modifications and/or supplemental feedings tophysicians for patients.6. Ensures accuracy of diet order received by checking against physician's order.7. Calculates nutrient content of tube feeding, TPN/PPN, and dietary intakes(calorie counts) as ordered by physicians.8. Provides nutritional guidance and counseling to patients and their families.Provides written material as needed and according to prescribed diet.9. Assists Chief Clinical Dietitian with changes to patient's menu, includingpatient food preferences, and development of standardized recipes.10. Assists in overseeing food service workers in proper food handing andportion control.11. Reports any malfunctioning of equipment which may interfere with a safe andsmooth operation.12. Participates in performance improvement initiatives including data collectionand reporting on results.13. Performs related duties, as required. ADA Essential Functions REQUIREDEXPERIENCE ANDQUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in Food, Nutrition or Dietetics, required. Registered Dietitian (RD) within three (3) months of date of hire, required.
