Corman is seeking for a dynamic Operations Manager to lead our team in Osceola, AR (conveniently located just one hour from Memphis, TN, and one hour from Jonesboro, AR).If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a knack for leadership, this is your chance to make a significant impact in the rail industry. You'll be working in one of the largest steel mills in the U.S., adding prestige and excitement to your role.Role Overview:
  • Lead with Impact: Step into a pivotal leadership role where you'll not only develop a robust customer base and negotiate high-impact agreements but also manage a critical operating budget. Supervise a dedicated train crew to meet and exceed customer needs in one of the most significant steel operations in the country.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Champion Safety: Ensure top-tier track protection and seamless communication, creating a secure and efficient work environment.
  • Operational Excellence: Establish and enforce gold-standard operating procedures in line with AAR, FRA, and OSHA regulations.
  • Employee Development: Drive continuous improvement with comprehensive training plans that elevate job skills and ensure compliance.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Be the go-to problem solver for customer complaints related to switching operations and freight delivery, maintaining stellar on-site relations.
  • Efficient Scheduling: Master the art of scheduling to ensure timely and precise customer deliveries.
  • Maintenance Mastery: Oversee a top-notch maintenance and repair program for all vehicles, machinery, and equipment, ensuring operational readiness.
  • Resource Management: Maintain well-functioning non-capital equipment, from specialty tools to communication devices and office supplies.
  • Team Leadership: Build, train, and retain an exceptional switching crew, fostering a culture of excellence.
  • Customer Relations: Cultivate and maintain strong customer relationships while optimizing daily switching activities.
  • Performance Monitoring: Keep operations transparent and efficient with timely, data-driven reports.
  • Safety and Conduct: Uphold the highest standards of safety and conduct, managing disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Dynamic Growth: Embrace a role with continuous growth and learning opportunities, performing additional duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience:
  • Proven Expertise: 3-5 years of train handling experience, including 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of transportation rules, OSHA, AAR, FRA, DOT, and company safety policies.
  • Operational Savvy: Strong grasp of manpower and equipment capabilities.
  • Team Builder: Ability to foster teamwork and collaborate across all levels.
  • Effective Communicator: Engage effectively with workforce, sub-contractors, and both internal and external customers.
  • Training Compliance: Identify, schedule, and ensure appropriate training for employees.
  • Tech-Savvy: Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Customer Service Champion: Strong focus on client satisfaction.
Physical Requirements:
  • Dynamic Mobility: Frequent travel to various switching operations and customer locations.
  • Tech-Friendly: Ability to use computer, telephone, and mobile radio media.
Environmental Conditions:
  • Versatile Work Environment: Range from outside job-site conditions around moving locomotives, railcars, and vehicles, to indoor office settings.
  • Weather-Ready: Frequent exposure to weather elements and appropriate PPE for job site visits.
