*This position is a temporary position for 90 days only*POSITION SUMMARYUnder the general supervision of the Administrative Manager, the Receptionist performs clerical duties to provide staff support required by the Tribal Council and Tribal Administrator as appropriate. As the first face and/or voice that that the public may see or hear, the Receptionist of the Tribal Office must maintain a high level of professionalism in their attitude, language, manners, and appearance. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Answers telephone, transfers calls, and takes messages. Greets and directs visitors at the Tribal Office. Logs, dates, sorts, and distributes incoming mail. Processes outgoing mail and maintains postage machine. Responsible for typing and proof reading. Sends emails and faxes as instructed. Takes and transcribes minutes. Assists with mailings. Uses office machinery/technology. Assists with inventory and DMV licensing & registration processes for all tribal vehicles. Provides clerical support as instructed. Performs other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GED or High School Diploma is required. Must possess a valid California Driver's License and be insurable by the Tribe.NATIVE PREFERENCEPreference in hiring is given to either the most qualified applicant or a Native American candidate who meets the minimum qualifications. When two (2) or more Native American candidates have comparable qualifications, the following order of preference shall apply: (1) Members of Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; (2) Spouses or domestic partners (certified through Tribal Court) of members of Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; (3) Parents of children of the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; (4) All other documented Native Americans; (5) All other applicants in accordance with Title 25, U.S. Code, Section 472 and 473. Applicants claiming Native preference must submit verification of Indian eligibility.
