Come meet us and discover a rewarding career in child care!Job Summary:The classroom staff is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate childcare program for the children of Sproutlings with current knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures or aptitude toward learning. Teaching Assistants must ensure safety of these children in accordance with relevant federal and state legislation and policies.The classroom staff will be respectful of children and parents, and ensure that equipment and facilities are clean, safe and well maintained. The Teacher Assistant will work in the classroom under the direction of the lead teacher.Duties of an assistant include working with either students in small groups or individually, enforcing the rules to help students behave, tracking attendance, preparing materials or equipment for lessons, and helping supervise students. Common Responsibilities:
- Provide nutritious snacks and lunches as defined by federal, state, local, and facility guidelines.
- Ensure equipment and the facility are clean, well maintained and safe at all times
- Assist the teacher with the daily lessons.
- Follow all policies and procedures including acceptable disciplinary policies
- Be familiar with emergency procedures
- Ensure children are supervised at all times
- Provide various experiences and activities for children including songs, games and storytelling
- Provide opportunities for sleep and rest time
- Establish routines and provide positive guidance
- Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable
- Implement positive discipline when required
- Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand
- Perform other related duties as detailed by supervisor or designee
- Implement policies and procedures taught in state mandated orientation training in the classroom daily
Requirements:
- Preferred two-year degree or combination of education and experience
- Demonstrates effective multi-tasking, time management and stress management skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Can work independently with little direct supervision, and with a team
- Accepts responsibility and is self-motivated
- Demonstrates strong work ethic to achieve Sproutlings and organization goals
