In this role, you truly can!The Shelter Direct Support Staff provides critical support to young adults in the Manchester, NH community. The Shelter Direct Support Staff will work in a team to support young adults between the ages of 18-25 years old in staying at Waypoint's Emergency Shelter. The Emergency Shelter is part of programming that provides 24/7 care to youth and young adults that are experiencing homelessness or are at risk thereof. The Shelter staff utilize a Positive Youth Development approach, employ Harm Reduction strategies, and are Trauma-Informed. We have a new Full-Time opportunity for an overnight position (12-hour shifts 7 pm - 7 am) Thursday-Saturday. (Perfect for a second job or additional income)Shelter Direct Support Staff responsibilities include providing overnight support, building trusting relationships with clients, providing crisis intervention, and making connections to day-time services. Additional responsibilities include the ability to complete documentation, maintain files and provide intakes and assessments.Qualifications:
  • You must be passionate about our mission and purpose
  • One year of relevant experience (lived experience and expertise looked upon favorably)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with vulnerable populations, sexual health, mental health, and/or substance use preferred.
  • Must have the ability to work well on a team.
  • Great organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Must be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and passionate about working with young adults
  • Creative, innovative, bold, courageous, and brave
  • Must pass a criminal record check, with no history of abuse, neglect or exploitation and a motor vehicle check
  • Must have a valid driver's license and auto insurance that meets agency minimum liability coverage of $50,000/$100,000
