Job descriptionPilot Property Management is a locally-owned company managing more than 1,100 apartment units in the greater Seattle area. We're looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join our team. This is a full-time hybrid position, requiring at least three days/week in our Seattle office, with an approximate schedule of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.The RoleThe Senior Bookkeeper is responsible for the supervision of the Property Bookkeeping team members and full charge property bookkeeping. They will oversee a monthly accounting cycle for a diverse portfolio of properties, including general ledger accounting activities, balance sheet reconciliations, preparation of monthly property financial reporting packages, and collaborating with property managers to ensure accurate, timely, and complete property execution from a financial standpoint. This role requires strong supervisory skills, as well as collaboration with other departments. The ideal candidate will have experience with Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, and AppFolio.Responsibilities & DutiesThe following describes the general nature and level of the work performed by the individual and is not intended to be all-inclusive. It is generally agreed that other duties may be assigned from time to time.Collaborate with Property Managers and the Company Controller to ensure that department and company goals are metCash flow managementAccounts Payable: enter invoices for payment, sort and mail checks, digitize and file payables (electronic and hard copies), and cut checks as neededAccounts Receivable: process income for properties (posting into AppFolio, electronic deposits), take deposits to banks, and assist in tenant account reconciliation (outstanding credits/balances)Prepare financial statementsMonth end reconciliation and closeProcess owner distributionsContact AP vendors for missing/incomplete invoicingObtain W-9s for all vendors and prepare year-end 1099s and other tax and regulatory filings as neededProactively identify and research invoice discrepanciesAssist team with additional tasks as needed such as filing, processing tenant move outs, and onboarding new propertiesContribute to process and policy development and maintenanceSupport training and mentorship across the teamDelegate workload across bookkeeping and administrative personnel as appropriateSupervise Property Bookkeeping team and activitiesEffectively communicate and collaborate with team members and clients in a timely mannerUphold company values and provide excellent customer serviceQualifications and SkillsMinimum of three years of relevant experience in property management accountingMinimum of two years proven experience as a team supervisorProficient with PCs and Microsoft 365Experience working in property management and accounting software required, AppFolio preferredGood communicator who enjoys working with a dedicated teamAnalytical and problem-solving skillsAttention to detail and high level of accuracyStrong organizational skills to maintain efficiency standardsAbility to address discrepancies and implement corrective processesMaintain a flexible attitude and approach toward a variety of assignmentsAccept constructive criticism and give appropriate feedbackSelf-starter who can work independentlyMust pass criminal background checkCompensation & Benefits$70,000 - $85,000Company-paid comprehensive health insurance (medical, vision, and dental coverage)401(k) Retirement Savings Plan with 4% company matchCompany-paid Long Term Disability InsuranceGenerous PTO plan + 12 paid holidaysProfessional development & education opportunitiesFun company eventsAdditional InformationSchedule: this is a full-time, exempt position working Monday to Friday, roughly between 8am - 5pmLocation: this is a hybrid role, requiring at least three full days per week in our Seattle office (in North Queen Anne).
