JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Director of Human Resources to align our HR initiatives and functions with business objectives and business needs, leading the HR effort at the holding company level and employing strategies that guide the HR practices at the subsidiary level0. This role demands an individual with a deep understanding of HR
strategies, excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence and partner with different levels of the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
- Bridge management and employee relations by developing programs to encourage employee engagement.
- Establish HR policies and procedures to create consistency across the enterprise.
- Design and execute competitive employee benefit plans including: Conduct the HR and benefits orientation for new hires. Partner with current benefits broker to ensure that all employee benefit issues are successfully addressed. Conduct employee open enrollment.
- Develop, implement, and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance.
- Support entity leaders and HR administrators with more complicated HR issues. Serve as a final escalation point for employee issues.
- Assist with the administration of payroll processing.
- Source, screen, and interview for open positions at the holding company level. Extend and negotiate job offers.
- Develop and administer long-term incentive plans; effectively administer the Company's annual bonus program.
- Proactively assess training needs and identify methods to address training gaps. Develop and deliver training, as appropriate.
- Partner with in-house legal counsel to mitigate risk associated with all employee actions at the holding company and at the entity-level.
- Conduct comprehensive investigations into employee issues and recommend an appropriate course of action given the outcome. Implement any actions resulting from the investigation.
- Monitor changing legislation in all applicable geographies. Update the employee handbook as needed and author required HR policies.
- Market price positions, ensuring market competitiveness of employee pay. Recommend merit and equity pay adjustments. Suggest appropriate promotional increases to align with market.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven working experience in a mid to senior-level HR role.
- Excellent project management skills to ensure successful development and implementation of HR programs.
- People-oriented and results-driven.
- Demonstrable experience with HR metrics.
- Knowledge of HR systems.
- Ability to champion HR programs.
- Excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
- In-depth knowledge of HR best practices and working knowledge of labor laws.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field.
- 10+ years' experience in Human Resources. Preference is given to experience in the transportation industry.
- Demonstrated success as a solo HR practitioner or in an emerging growth environment.
- HR Certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR).
