Director of Golf, Sales & Business Development - Experienced

The Director of Golf, Sales & Business Development at NewClub is a newly created, key growth role for the company, reporting directly to the CEO.

Our goal is to find an individual who can not only support our short-term growth but also help us to continue to build and expand in the long term as an important part of the future of our company.

NewClub is a remote company, but the person for this role should be living close to the Chicagoland or greater Atlanta area. Travel will be required for this role.

Job Responsibilities

The Director of Golf, Sales & Business Development will be responsible for clear revenue goals and KPIs for generating new golf opportunities and quality of golf opportunities (through such metrics as booking percentage) in two to three local chapters.

Golf opportunities that this role will be directly responsible for include reserved tee times, hosted tee times, leagues, medals, matches, competitions, trips, and other member privileges.

This role is also responsible for managing relationships with all partners, suppliers, and external stakeholders in their local chapters, including private clubs, public courses, member hosts, practice facilities, and elected Club Captains.

  • Represent NewClub with the highest standards of integrity and partnership in keeping with our core values -- to partners, suppliers, and external stakeholders in two to three local NewClub chapters, including private clubs, public courses, member hosts, and practice facilities.
  • Serve in dual roles (relationship management + new business acquisition) as an individual contributor, strengthening relationships with our existing courses while creating partnerships with new courses to generate quality golf opportunities for NewClub members.
  • Achieve clear revenue goals and KPIs for generating new quality golf opportunities in two to three local chapters.
  • Report directly to and present findings to the CEO on an ongoing basis regarding areas of opportunity and improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with internal Marketing, Operations, Finance, and Technology teams acting as a team player and strong internal partner.
  • Hire, mentor, and manage a golf team of direct reports to scale the business, shifting from player-coach to manager, as part of a jointly defined strategy with the CEO to support the growth of the business.
  • Meetings as necessary, not exceeding 50% travel
  • Quarterly “fixtures” and off-site leadership team meetings
  • 4-6 total local chapter events per year

Qualifications
  • 7+ years of business development or B2B sales experience
  • 5+ years in a leadership role of a start-up or early-stage company
  • 3+ years leading a team in sales or account management
  • Deep local golf market and golf industry knowledge
  • Reputation for building and maintaining strong relationships
  • Direct sales experience with relevant golf industry or similar B2B contacts
  • Growth-oriented, self-motivated, and entrepreneurial
  • Organized, detailed, enthusiastic, and engaging
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Robust golf operations experience, acumen, and knowledge
  • Familiarity with Golf Genius tournament software
  • Comfortable working remotely using web-based meetings
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as necessary
  • Proficient with CRM and SAAS tools
