Description Fitter/Welder - 2nd ShiftWilson Rd.QualificationsThe Industrial Welder/Fitter will be able to perform ASME quality in one or more of the following disciplines; Stick (SMAW), Flux Core (FCAW) and/or Tig (GTAW). Position will be responsible for reading and interpreting P&ID's and blueprints in order to join, fit, fabricate and assemble tanks and/or heaters to project specifications.Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform calculations and operations with mathematical data.
  • Utilize a variety of hand tools and devices in the manufacturing of tanks or heaters.
  • Apply standard welding techniques for the purpose of joining and repairing metal and other weld material.
  • Perform quality work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Continually seek ways to improve processes and workflow to drive positive change.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Accomplish department and company mission by achieving set goals.
  • Promote and educate others on Astec's core values.
  • Follow company policies, procedures and safety rules at all times.

  • Must possess a high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Must have three (3) years' experience in a welding capacity.
  • Must be self-motivated, able to follow directions, and work independently and as a team-player.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment on a customary and regular basis.
  • Must be deadline driven and possess a strong work ethic.
  • Must possess reading, writing, and basic math skills to understand product descriptions, document activities and communicate deficiencies.
  • Capacity to handle sudden changes in project/priority and multiple tasks simultaneously in a positive fashion is necessary.
