Civil Project Engineer

Haugland Group, a privately-owned Long Island, New York-based electrical and heavy civil construction company has an immediate need for a full-time Civil Project Engineer. The position will be based out of our main office in Melville, NY.

We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated, highly organized individual to join the Project Management team to provide all facets of construction project support, including submittal processing, material management, and budget analysis.

Key Functions

* Acquire a thorough understanding of project requirements and objectives; review all project documents, including drawings, specifications, contracts, scope of work, and construction schedule

* Coordinate and facilitate both internal and agency kick-off meeting with all key participants

* Assist in preparing project documents including progress reports, detailed project schedule updates, and financial/budget updates

* Assist in performing project status reviews by monitoring project schedule, submittal/RFI logs and open items utilizing the project TEAM platform

* Monitor project scope for changes affecting budget and/or schedule; identifies cause, advises client and negotiates changes orders as appropriate

* Assist in accurate invoicing and monitor receivables for project as well as subcontractor pay schedule

* Ensure subcontractors provide certificates of insurance that meet contractual requirements prior to mobilization

* Assist in punch list completion and agency sign off

Desired Qualifications

* 2 to 4 years of relevant experience, ideally in construction management

* Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering preferred

* Experience with ERP management and improvements

* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and standard computer applications

* Display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner

* Ability to identify problems; determine accuracy and relevance of information; use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations

* Effective communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills, and a strong work ethic
