Responsible for the safe, courteous and timely patient centered transport of patients and various forms of clinical information within the campus. Respond to directions in a courteous and professional manner. Utilizes e-DH EPIC system regarding the pick-up, delivery, completion, delays and changes of assignment. Transports patients / visitors of all ages, via wheelchair, stretcher, bed, morgue cart, to and from lobbies, clinical, ancillary, and support departments. Patient name bands must be verified prior to each transport. Functions independently. Escorts ambulatory patients. Performs surface to surface transfer of patients during the transport process as required. Transfers all patients and related items using appropriate equipment including: SLIPP Sheets, Slide Boards, Hover Mat, beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, Hoyer Lifts, and patient room ceiling lifts. Support nursing with Vented Patients and respond to outside patient transport requests. Maintain stretchers, stretcher mattresses, and wheelchairs, IV poles and bases, O2 holders, including inventory, preventive maintenance, and cleaning, disinfect, and make up stretchers with sheets. Exchange mattresses as requested on floor. Set up traction within the hospital. Maintain traction supplies, clean and organize same. Perform traction roundup as necessary. Make request for new equipment / supplies as necessary. High School diploma or equivalent preferred but not required. Previous hospital experience preferred. On the job training provided. BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification within 90 days of hire of hire and maintained on bi-annual basis. CHT (Certified Healthcare Transporter) within 6 months of hire.
