DescriptionPRN - On Call / As NeededThe Ultrasound Technician performs a variety of ultrasound procedures to assist in a diagnosis of disease or demonstrate principles of growth and development.Essential Functions: Obtains patient history, performs ultrasound studies as ordered by healthcare provider and observes patient during studiesCorrelates clinical history, pertinent clinical data, lab tests and other ancillary diagnostic exams to obtain ultrasound exams of optimal valueRecognizes and interprets diagnostic scans as appropriateDevelops, collates and presents exams to Radiologist for final interpretation; records diagnostic results in medical recordAssists patient to and from exam room/table; positions patient to ensure optimal results of procedure(s)Prepares patients for examination by explaining procedure(s) and study purposePositions equipment and sets measurements and controls for appropriate density, details and contrastAssists maintain records and files to ensure compliance with all state and federal requirements and regulatory standardsConducts training and in-services on equipment and procedures for students by demonstrating and teaching proper use and operation of equipment, anatomy and ultrasound physicsPerforms routine preventive maintenance on equipment to provide for ongoing safe operationsPerforms and documents quality control activities, identifies and reports equipment for repairMaintains stock and inventory levels of supplies for proceduresActively participates in a variety of performance and quality improvement initiativesParticipates in departmental orientation, on the job training and quality assurance programs/initiativesParticipates in a variety of department and hospital educational programs to maintain current skill and competency levels; identifies and discusses performance or training needs with SupervisorPerforms all other job related activities as requiredRequirementsOne year of experience in ultrasound preferredCompletion of an accredited ultrasound programARDMS registration preferredBLS certification or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hireIndian Preference and Equal Employment Opportunity SCAHC gives preference in hiring to San Carlos Apache Tribal members and other Native Americans in accordance with the San Carlos Apache Tribe's Tribal Preference Policy, as set forth in Section 402 of the Tribe's Human Resources Department Policies and Procedures Manual.
