DescriptionDuties and Responsibilities:
- Load, unload and transfer incoming and outgoing merchandise to designated areas in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with company policies, GMP's, and customer requirements.
- Inspect forklift and other equipment before use, making minor adjustments as needed; inform supervisor of more complex repairs that may be needed so as to ensure all equipment is operating at all times.
- Stock and organize merchandise in the appropriate place in the warehouse by use of forklift, pallet jack or other manual means.
- Retrieve and supply necessary products and/or materials to co-workers in a timely manner.
- Inspect merchandise for deficiencies or breakages prior to shipment or warehouse storage.
- Record all merchandise discrepancies on appropriate paperwork and notify management.
- Verify product/s and label with appropriate identification code.
- Fill and ensure customer order is in accordance with packaging slip, complete appropriate paperwork, and place a copy with the merchandise for shipment.
- Participate in and contribute to training programs, as designated by the company, that are periodically required to enhance safety, quality, cost, or job performance.
- Maintain housekeeping, GMP's, and safety within the facility.
- Perform all other duties as needed or as requested by management.
RequirementsPhysical Requirements:
- Must be mobile and be able to travel/navigate throughout the facility. Must be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance.
- Must be able to read documents and use equipment.
- Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with internal and external contacts.
- Must be able to occasionally climb, stoop or kneel to perform routine tasks within the scope of the job.
- Must be able to grip/grab objects.
- Must be able to work in environments that may include, but are not restricted to, cold, heat, wet, humid, draft, fumes, or various combinations of same.
Previous experience:
- One year warehouse and forklift operation experience required with an excellent safety record.
- Previous experience with cycle counting, inventory systems and printing ticket labels a plus.
- Previous experience in a food manufacturing setting is preferred.
Knowledge and Skills Need to Perform Effectively in this Position include:
- Must be qualified to operate a forklift.
- Ability to work in a fast pace environment.
- Demonstrate mechanical and basic math and computer skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good clerical and recordkeeping skills, including legible handwriting.
