SUMMARY: To encourage and support our KU Student-Athletes in achieving a high level of skill and athleticism, developing an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and promoting an increased level of self-esteem.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Athletic Assistant is responsible for minor care and health/prevention of athletic injuries.
- Work closely with coaches and athletes to observe signs and symptoms of injury or illness and suggest referral to a physician or clinic;
- Prepare student athletes for practices by taping and providing preventative measures and techniques;
- Be available to coaches and athletes before and after practices and games as needed;
- Attend games as assigned by the Athletic Director;
- Assist visiting teams with first aid as needed;
- Maintain and supervise the training supplies and facilities;
- Maintain appropriate records as required;
- Work with Athletic Director regarding supplies and budget;
- Other duties as assigned by Athletic Director.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attends and supervises all assigned competitions;
- Oversees the safety conditions of the playing facilities;
- Reports directly to the Athletic Director regarding any concerns relating to KU Athletics.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working with minor athletic injuries;
- Certifications in First Aid and CPR/AED.
COMPENSATION:
- 1.0 Stipend from 2022-2025 KFEA Contract Agreement: Assistant Assistant - 6% of Base KFEA Salary per season
