Salary Range: $22.00-28.00/hour

Position Summary

This position is responsible to meet the goals and objectives of the organization by conducting laboratory tests for various flexible packaging products, conducting fit-for use-testing, interpreting analytical results, and providing analytical reports to departments as needed. These tests include physical and analytical testing of materials. Once the tests are completed, the employee will write a report with the findings.

Essential Duties and Tasks

  • Prepare and analyze numerous types of samples by a variety of physical and chemical analytical techniques using sophisticated analytical equipment, including microscopy, mechanical testing, bond strength, mode of failure analysis, seal testing, element analysis.
  • Train others on analytical and physical test methods, appropriate fit-for-use testing and interpretation of results.
  • Compile and interpret results of tests and analyses.
  • Maintain Standard Operating Procedures and make recommends for their improvement
  • Participate in scientific discussion and critical thinking
  • Assemble test materials and equipment to expedite test procedures
  • Communicate to stakeholders when test results indicate that corrective action is necessary.
  • Prioritize samples as they arrive in laboratory.
  • Responsible for instruments operations (including calibration and maintenance) and monitoring the quality of the laboratory results.
  • Assist with implementation of new analytical methods.
  • Submit justification for changing or adding new test equipment
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Education and Experience

  • Education – 4-year degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent experience of working in a lab environment.
  • Experience – entry level (1+ years).
  • Solid working knowledge of physical and analytical testing equipment.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), Outlook email and calendar.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality and protects privacy of confidential/sensitive information.
  • Exceptional time management and organization skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously establishing priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and presentations) with executive leadership, staff, and internal and external clients.
  • Proactive; exercises sound judgment and decision making; able to identify problems and needs and develop solutions and/or options.
  • Self-confident, self-motivated polished professional who thrives in a challenging, fast-paced environment.

Work primarily in a climate controlled indoor environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Hearing protection, safety shoes, vision and other protection required when in manufacturing areas.

This role operates in a professional office environment that may have some exposure to a manufacturing environment. Employee is rarely exposed to non-toxic/nuisance smells from chemicals, airborne dust, moving mechanical parts, high noise levels and hot/humid environmental conditions in the manufacturing areas.
