YOUR ROLE IN THE COMMUNITY

In search of an NYC-area based Creative Director, designer and visual storyteller to join a group of passionate, hard-working, culturally-connected and kind humans who work with some of the world's biggest and most innovative brands.

We love thoughtful creatives who use both sides of their brain – art + smart – to craft unique and impactful ideas and design. We're looking for a motivated, passionate multidisciplinary designer and ideas person ready to work in just about every medium, including experiential; someone who considers infographics, layout, typography, editorial and presentation design among their superpowers. But most importantly, someone who will dig into all they know about business and culture to develop amazing ideas for our client - and develop those ideas from more junior creatives as well. You'll be working with our tight-knit, collaborative team on a wide range of creative challenges, juggling multiple projects and tasks, taking the complex and clarifying it into something impactful. You'll be an inspiration to art directors, and you'll pique the imagination of our clients as you develop concepts that position them in business and culture.

Above all else, you'll have:

  • A love of design: aware of the latest trends, but not simply following them. You carve out your own new, innovative design paths
  • A passion for puzzles: able to take complex concepts and subjects and visualize them simply and clearly. You'll also have the ability to develop this passion and ability in mid and junior level art directors
  • A head full of ideas, and business acumen. How we can help our clients? What are their business goals? Where should they show up? How they should interact with the communities and partners they serve?
  • Experience with ideation around communications campaigns - finding the white spaces our clients might fill, and positioning them for the future on social media, through partnerships, in dynamic content, in communications with their employees, and through experiential activations
  • A client-facing point of view - comfortable presenting ideas, taking feedback, and tackling what's next
  • A hardworking nature, positive attitude and excellent sense of humor!

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ideate and lead execution of concepts at a high level of polish
  • Lead ideation sessions with internal creatives, and present to clients
  • Maintain technical knowledge and stay current on design
  • Drive the narrative and storytelling of our sophisticated client communications and marketing campaigns
  • Eager and willing to roll up your sleeves and contribute to the collaborative effort
  • Tap into network to bring on additional freelance resources when necessary
  • Stay current and intellectually curious about everything that could impact our clients: politics, social media, social issues, entertainment, science, technology and culture

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Highly Proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat)
  • Proficient in the Google Suite (Docs, Slides, Drive)
  • Creative ideation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Able to provide constructive feedback to more junior members
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to see projects through from inception to production

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field
  • 10+ years of agency experience, either in communications or marketing
  • Must have experience with designing for live experiences; experience with communications campaigns and internal communications experiences a huge plus

CIVIC COMMUNITY AND CULTURE BENEFITS

  • A positive, fun, supportive and diverse team environment, with opportunities for advancement and a commitment to staff development and growth
  • Competitive salary and incentives
  • Full benefits package including dental and vision, and retirement plan with employer match
  • Best in class parental leave benefits
  • Wellness stipend
  • Hybrid work schedule

Civic is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age or veteran status.
