In this role, you will:
- Review the community's accounting policies and procedures on a periodical basis, making recommendations to the CFO.
- Interpret the community's accounting policies and procedures to employees, members, family members, government agencies, etc.
- Serve as a liaison between the finance department, CFO, medical team members, sales/marketing, and other departments to ensure financial transactions are reported accurately and in compliance with prescribed procedures.
- Supervise and train team members involved in accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, third-party reimbursement, member funds, etc.
- Maintain the general ledger, which includes the preparation of journal entries, monthly closing, setting up new accounts, account analyses and reconciliations.
- Monitor and collect accounts receivable.
- Prepare monthly financial statements to include balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, as required.
- Ensure compliance with all New York State Department of Finance reporting requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets. Monitor, maintain, and compute departmental budget annually; review monthly.
- Prepare annual cost/tax return data.
- Act as a liaison with outside auditors and tax professionals.
We require:
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance or related field
- Management experience in the training and direction of finance department team members
- Ability to establish internal controls and develop financial policies and procedures. Ability to analyze complex bond documents to ensure compliance with reporting requirements, debt covenants, and flow of trustee-held funds
- Strong writing, communication, and computer skills
- The ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality work under pressure, even when facing demanding deadlines
- Healthcare experience a plus
