Job Description of Regional EHS Manager

An immediate need for an experienced Regional Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) professional specializing in heavy civil/industrial construction in the NY and surrounding areas. The candidate will be credentialed (e.g. – BS, MS, OSHA 30, OSHA 510, OSHA 500, ASP, GSP, CSP, CHST, STSC, etc.).

The EHS professional will work directly for the client overseeing regional EHS responsibilities on various sites.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide professional input and review of Site-Specific Safety Plan when job or site conditions warrant special planning. • Provide supervision and guidance to site competent individuals
  • Works with Q/A department to ensure organization adheres to all safety requirements outlined in SSPC QP programs i.e., QP-1, QP-2, QS-1
  • Review and approve JHRA of safe work plans written by project managers for each project
  • Certification and training management, to include tracking and monitoring expirations and recertification requirements
  • Ensures accident reporting is timely and injured personnel are attended to efficiently
  • Immediate reporting of all accidents to Safety Director
  • Provide Corporate Safety Data records for analysis of any accidents or incidents for preventative action and compliance with statutory reporting requirements
  • Serve as subject-matter expert on safety-related matters and ensure compliance with state and federal OSHA requirements
  • Oversee and effectively administer Workers Compensation Program and perform oversight of all claims. • Assess emergency response and evacuation procedures
  • Stays well-informed of industry trends and regulations, maintain certifications, and seeks continuous avenues for growth and improvement
  • Travel to various construction sites or other offsite projects and validate that health and safety protocols are being followed
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with project superintendents, contractors, customers, and field personnel
  • Special projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • Hold industrial Safety professional certification CSP, CIH, CHST, or equivalent, plus 5+ years of experience in a similar position or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • OSHA 30 Certification preferred)
  • OSHA 510
  • HazWoper Certification
  • Solid understanding of OSHA and industry specific regulations
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite software
  • Professional attitude and appearance
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrate a positive, proactive attitude to help motivate, coach, and inspire employee compliance with safety policies and practices
  • Possess the ability to establish strong working relationships with employees.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Able to adapt quickly, in a self-confident manner, while managing critical projects simultaneously
  • Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to travel as required
