This is a full-time position with benefits, including but not limited to: health, dental, vision, paid time off and paid holiday Job responsibilities: Prepare surfaces for painting using cleaning, masking and sanding techniques. Apply coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or glazing to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings, and other structures. Knowledge in removing lead-based paint and other hazardous materials fromvarious surfaces. Make sure all chemicals are used properly, following safety protocol. Proper preparation of all areas to be painted, which includesscraping old paint,removingold caulk,tapingwindows and other necessary areas,and placingdrop cloths on floors. Apply caulk and patch in a clean, professional manner within various substrates, including concrete, masonry, and wood. Paint surfaces with tools such as brushes, paint rollers, and spray guns. Make small patches and repairs in substrate using a variety of materials. Select premixed paints, or mix required portions of pigment, oil and thinning and drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colors. Utilize the use of cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to create special effects. Experience with glazing, glass cutting, and spray finishing is preferred. Work proficiently and cooperatively with other team members in a shop environment, while following safety regulations. Requirements: Good hand-eye coordination and arms in carrying, installing, positioning, and loading/unloading materials. Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your entire body, such as bending, climbing, lifting, stooping, walking, reaching and handling of materials. Wearing respiratory protection and common protective equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection,and hard hats when at the job site. Ability to work overtime as needed. Qualifications: Minimum of three to five years experience of commercial painting. Lead Certification is required. Valid drivers license and vehicle to get to job sites. Experience working on historic properties is helpful. Must be able to climb and maintain balance on scaffolds two or more stories, climbing ladders, lift and carry objects weighing between 50 to 75 pounds.
