IT Systems Administrator Location: 570 West 10th St. Pittsburg, CA – 94565 12 months Description: The IT System Administrator Principal is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, customer support and maintenance of systems hardware, infrastructure application software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, infrastructure applications and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, volunteers, and partners. This individual will assist project teams with technical issues in the initiation and planning phases of new projects. Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise; Interprets internal or external business issues and recommends best practices; Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions; Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations; May lead functional teams or projects; Is recognized as an expert in own area within the organization; Progression to this level is typically restricted on the basis of business requirements. Server Engineer, experience designing, managing, deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting enterprise compute infrastructure with a focus on design and implementation for projects Responsibilities: • Support data centers with continuing improvement of compute infrastructure and an engineering mindset to solve problems • Design, install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot VMWare ESXI, Nutanix AHV, and Microsoft Hyper-V or Azure HCI (hyperconverged infrastructure solutions) • Perform analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex server problems and recommend and implement corrective hardware and/or software solutions • Impact, influence and act as a lead SME for teammates to grow and get better • Lead effort on resolving complex technical issues for virtual and physical compute infrastructure • Help transform existing compute infrastructure by planning a next generation compute infrastructure that is highly available and meets the businesses expectations • Work with core vendors to set foundational direction for compute infrastructure • Plan and design, proactively seek issues before they become incidents, and troubleshoot complex issues using diverse tool sets • Support procurement of hardware/software for IT infrastructure projects • Create and update detailed Visio diagrams to reflect design changes in IT infrastructure • Create clear, detailed, technical documentation to reflect compute infrastructure designs • Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn NERC CIP Compliance and operate infrastructure within regulatory guidelines Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field and at least 7 years' experience engineering, managing, configuring, and troubleshooting virtual and physical enterprise compute infrastructure (Vmware, Nutanix, Windows) • Business problem solving mindset and ability to work autonomously and as part of a team • Business process and reengineering experience, as well as an understanding of the relationship between processes and policies • Very strong technical knowledge and experience on IT infrastructure and have the ability to clearly communicate and explain concepts at a deep technical level • Ability to create/read and understand technical manuals and procedural documentation • Ability to conduct research into server issues and products as required • Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with high attention to detail • Must be able to effectively prioritize and execute assigned tasks in a high-pressure environment while working on multiple projects with different deadlines • Strong customer-service orientation • Strong work ethic and integrity in an environment working with team members • Daily on-premises presence in Pittsburg, CA with occasional trips to San Francisco Recommended: • Windows Server system administration experience • Cisco network administration experience • Experience working on many IT infrastructure deployment projects (ability to support designing, scoping, procurement, deployment, and documenting) • Fluent with MS Visio or Draw.io to create and update diagrams and documentation • Experience with NERC CIP compliance standards • Ability to work well and efficiently with team members • Ability to work and communicate clearly with remote team members in different time zones
