The Sangamon County Central Dispatch Systems/9-1-1 has an ongoing, revolving hiring list. Applicants will be required to test for placement on the list. Names on the list will be removed after one year from the date of testing. Applicant may only test once per rolling year.
Responsibilities
Answering all emergency 911 and non-emergency calls for police, fire, and EMS service in Sangamon County; entering the calls into a Computer Aided Dispatch system; and, handling radio transmissions from agencies served by SCCDS. A full job description is available as part of the application packet. This job is a fast-paced, high-volume, rewarding job requiring excellent customer service skills. The ability to multi-task is a must.
Requirements
Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, pass a computer-based test, pass a typing test requiring 65 key strokes per minute, pass a drug test and in-depth background investigation, and be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays and mandatory overtime.

Benefits
The starting annual salary is $42,500 with contractual increases each year.
