OPPORTUNITY SUMMARYThe Kitchen Operations Specialist position is a great opportunity for a student looking to assist the Office of Campus Life with the utilization of a kitchen for an event. As Specialist, the student is responsible for ensuring that any group or organization that is using the kitchen is doing so in a professional and organized manner. The position must also be comfortable working with other students and organizations to ensure all policies and procedures are being followed appropriately. The Kitchen Operations Specialist reports directly to the Coordinator - Student Leadership & Programming.SHIFTS:
  • Shifts Available: Varies Hours. Must work weekends and nights as needed
ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for the organization and cleanliness of a kitchen during and after use.
  • Assist in the creation and execution of community standards within the kitchen.
  • Create a checklist for students and staff to utilize when cleaning a kitchen after an event.
  • Organize and maintain an accurate inventory of all kitchen supplies.
  • Serve as a supervisor for Clubs or other organizations if a Professional Staff member is not able to be present.
  • Provide support to Professional Staff and Chef's in the kitchen during large scale Campus Life events.
  • Lead a training for Professional Staff on how to operate and clean a kitchen appropriately.
  • Ensure ServSafe standards are being always met when a kitchen is in use.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned by Professional Staff.
PREREQUISITES
  • Have completed their externship semester.
  • Must be organized and reliable.
  • Have experience using Microsoft Office, OneDrive, and Google Drive.
  • Must be available to work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Must be ServSafe certified.
PREFERRED PRIOR EXPERIENCES
  • 1-3 years of kitchen or bakeshop experience.
SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND LEARNING OUTCOMES OF ASSIGNMENT
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and adhering to standards of operational excellence, safety, efficiency and educational goals set by the CIA.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with guests, students, and faculty/staff.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to be adaptable, dependable and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills.
Successful applicant must be able to perform all related functions of the assignment which may include working nights and weekends, ability to bend reach and stand for long periods of time, lifting and carrying of items up to fifty (50) pounds, and the ability to withstand high ambient temperatures.
