About the Role:

As the CFO, you'llplay a pivotal role in shaping the future of LGBTQ+ healthcare and ensuring our continued growth and sustainability. Your responsibilities will encompass strategic financial planning, budgeting, accounting, and more, all in alignment with our mission and values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning for Growth: You'll take the lead in positioning the organization for strategic growth. This involves closely monitoring economic conditions, industry standards, and market trends to make informed decisions that align with our business plan. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that our financial strategy supports our mission and long-term sustainability.
  • Optimal Decision-Making: Applying your deep knowledge of traditional and alternative reimbursement models, key performance indicators, and policies, you'll be responsible for making sure that every financial decision aligns with our goals. You'll also ensure that we comply with all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws.
  • Establishing Financial Standards and Policies: It will be your responsibility to set and enforce financial standards, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory guidance. This includes requirements such as NYS Article 28, Article 31, and HRSA 330 grant requirements, among others.
  • Legal Compliance: Staying on top of federal, state, and local legal requirements is a crucial aspect of your role. This involves studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future changes, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on necessary actions to remain compliant.
  • Financial Reporting and Advice: You'll provide timely and accurate financial reports, statements, and decision-support information to the CEO, Board of Directors, and other management team members. Your financial insights will be instrumental in guiding the organization's strategic decisions.
  • Performance Improvement: Your role includes identifying opportunities to improve our financial performance. You'll implement innovative and cost-effective solutions to drive change management and business process improvement, ensuring that we operate efficiently and effectively.
  • Cash Management and Investments: You'll be responsible for maximizing returns on our cash assets while minimizing risk. This involves managing bank balances and recommending investment strategies to ensure the financial health of the organization.
  • Staying Informed: To stay at the forefront of your field, you'll continually seek out innovative industry best practices and trends. This includes exploring new technologies and systems that can enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and ease of managing our financial operations.
  • Hiring Finance Staff: As part of building a strong finance team, you'll oversee and participate in recruitment, selection, onboarding, and training of financial personnel.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree required in Finance, Business or Accounting and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certified (or equivalent experience in senior accounting roles).
    • 10+ years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, including management experience in complex nonprofit organizations.
    • 5+ years of supervisory experience and managing staff in the areas of payroll, A/P, general ledger entry, grant vouchering and purchasing.
    • Healthcare industry and FQHC experience a plus.
    • Experience with Revenue Cycle and a track record of success.
    • Federal, State and Local grant knowledge a plus.
    • Extremely knowledgeable in financial forecasting, accounting principles, and financial data analysis.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the propensity to successfully foster new and maintain long-standing business relationships.
    • Ability to build, grow and lead high-performing finance team with strong capabilities to both oversee and contribute to critical finance deliverables.
    • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, and Access) required.
