HorticulturalistOVERVIEW•Pay: $25 to $30 an hour•Location: Everett, WA•Day shift (Monday-Friday)SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIESThe Horticulturist reports directly to the Commercial Portfolio Manager and the primary role is to care for, maintain and cultivate plant propagation while playing an essential supportive role to the team of Building Engineers and other company departments.BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES•Assist with landscape maintenance, restoration and design•Oversee and manage all plant material selection, ordering, planting, and general care schedule of seasonal annuals, perennials, and woody ornamentals.•Transplant and prune shrubs and small trees•Weed landscape beds and assist with mulching, and watering•Identify potential pests or diseases & schedule treatments•Provide plant care advice to organization•Supervise and evaluate work of hired landscaping vendors•Responsible for irrigation systems and maintenance•Support Building Engineering team as needed•Execute other miscellaneous tasks as needed i.e. portfolio seasonal dcorCUSTOMER AND VENDOR RELATIONS•Builds strong relationships and rapport with Portfolio Manager, building engineers, customers and vendors by being respectful, fair, accountable, and responsive to their expectations and needs.•Assumes personal responsibility for all the small details that make the difference between merely good and simply exceptional performance.KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES•Values and demonstrates order, organization and cleanliness•In-depth knowledge of plant culture, management practices, plant identification and design concepts•Interpersonal skills, ability to relate to tenants and colleagues with an attitude of service regardless of organizational relationships•Knowledge in the safe use of small hand and power tools•Willing to improve current skill level and develop expertise in new technical areas as required in particular buildings and circumstancesEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE•One to five years of experience in horticulture or related field preferred: such as nursery, greenhouse growing, and landscape maintenance.•Computer proficient, including working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook•Personal independence, drive and self-initiative•Physically able to perform maintenance work in most weather conditions•Valid driver's license and reliable transportationAbout Aerotek:We know that finding work is hard, and finding meaningful work is harder.
