ABOUT THIS POSITION The Planning and Development Department guides the physical development of the city by preserving our historic sites, planning what can be built where, and ensuring safe construction of buildings and infrastructure. A host of advisory and governing bodies of residents as well as elected officials provide oversight as the city grows and needs arise. The process is governed through development and enforcement of city codes and ordinances. Currently, there are multiple Electrical Inspector II vacancies in the Planning and Development Department. The Electrical Inspector II inspect electrical installations to ensure that the work is performed in compliance with approved plans, construction code, and related requirements. Responsibilities include the inspection of new and existing electrical systems and equipment to ensure compliance with municipal and national codes for materials, workmanship, and safety factors. Compliance is ordered when violations are discovered. Underfill opportunities are available at the Electrical Inspector I level. Consideration may be given to candidates to underfill as Electrical Inspector II. Candidates selected to underfill are promoted to the level II after two years of successful performance and achieving all certifications on the job. IDEAL CANDIDATE - Knowledge of The National Electrical Code and associated rules, regulations, ordinances, and standards

SALARY Electrical Inspector II Pay Range: $30.31 to $44.77 per hour. Hiring Range: $30.31 to $40.61 per hour. Electrical Inspector I Pay Range: $26.18 to $38.68 per hour. Hiring Range: $26.18 to $35.08 per hour. Pay Range Explanation:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Electrical Inspector II
- Two years experience as an Electrical Inspector I.
- Three years experience as a journey level electrician.
- Or certification as an Electrical Inspector by a Model Code agency with experience in new or remodeling work on commercial and residential electrical installations.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted
- By the end of probation, must obtain the following certification:
- IAEI Electrical Inspector General OR ICC Commercial Electrical Inspector

Electrical Inspector I
- Three years of experience as a journey-level electrician skilled in new or remodeling work on commercial, industrial and multistory residential electrical installations OR certification by a model code agency as an electrical inspector
- By the end of probation, must obtain the following certification:
- IAEI Electrical Inspector General OR ICC Commercial Electrical Inspector

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Experience supervising electrical teams in commercial, residential, or industrial environments.
- Electrical classes, workshops, trainings, and/or continued education.
- Electrical Apprenticeship from an Accredited Agency.
- ICC Commercial Electrical Inspector or IAEI Electrical Inspector General Certifications.
