Job DetailsLevel Entry Job Location Hilton Saint Louis Frontenac - Saint Louis, MO Position Type Full Time DescriptionPURPOSE: The Laundry Attendant is responsible for washing all soiled linens, towels, napkins and tablecloths; folding and ironing. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Remove and sort dirty linens and towels from laundry carts.
  • Wash and dry all dirty linens, towels, rags, etc., as directed by management.
  • Ability to stand during entire shift.
  • Understand operation of washing machines and dryers. Clean dryer filter daily and maintain all equipment as trained.
  • Keep laundry carts clean and free of debris. Maintain clan work area. Long hours sometimes required
  • Perform the duties of room attendant following all prescribed requirements when needed.
  • Respond at all times, in a friendly, helpful and courteous manner to guests, managers and fellow associates. Must work well in stressful, high pressure situations and maintain composure and objectivity under pressure. Report all guest issues and complaints to management
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
OTHER PERSONNEL ISSUES:
  • Abide by payroll policies, procedures (punch in/punch out), Meals and Rest Periods policy and OLS Rules of Conduct.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of all hotel safety and security procedures as required maintaining a secure and safe environment for employees as well as guests.
  • Report any unusual occurrences and/or request to the General Manager.
  • Read and abide by all the regulations and rules of conduct stated in the employee handbook.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:Education: No formal education needed Experience: Prior housekeeping/laundry room experience desirable Skills and Abilities: Ability to communicate in English is a plus; Self-starting personality with an even disposition; Ability to meet standards of appearance; Able to communicate well with guests No. of employees supervised: None_ employees Hours Required: Scheduled days and times may vary based on need Lifting/Pushing/Pulling/Carrying Describe the type(s) of required lifting, pushing, pulling, and/or carrying to include objects, weights and frequency.
  • Pushing linen cart down entire length of hallway, carrying dirty linen from laundry shoot to washers, placing and removing heavy linen from washers and dryers. Medium work - exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Bending/Kneeling Describe the type(s) of required bending and/or kneeling to include when, why and how often.
  • Picking up linen requires bending and kneeling to reach all areas. Linen bags placed on floor for pickup. Bending would be required to retrieve dirty linen as well as placing it into washers and removing from washers and dryers. Placing folded linen into baskets and carts.
Mobility Describe the type(s) of mobility required to include distances and % of time involved.
  • Movement to reach all areas of responsibility to include: shelves, windows, ledges, pipes, under and around washers and dryers. Long hours sometimes required
Continuous Standing Describe the reasons to include time period and frequency.
  • Continuously standing and/or walking to accomplish all that is required for position. Ability to stand during entire shift.
Climbing Stairs: Up to approx. 40 steps 15 % of 40 hour week (time period)Ladders: Up to approx. 5 Feet 5 % of 40 hour week (time period)Driving Describe type of vehicle, distances, % of time involved and frequency.
