Job Type Full-time Description Walt Churchill's Market is hiring a Full-Time Head Baker for our Perrysburg, OH location. As the Head Baker, you will lead our baking operations, crafting a wide range of breads, pastries, and sweets that delight our customers. Your experience in a commercial kitchen, coupled with your enthusiasm for scratch-baking, will be key in maintaining our high standards and pushing the boundaries of our menu. Join us in creating unforgettable baked goods that bring joy to our community! Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service, including properly handling customer issues and using problem-solving skills to ensure all WCM customers have an excellent experience
  • Effectively train and educate new Bakers to be successful in their position and as a team member
  • Assess what needs to be accomplished, then prioritize and delegate
  • Set a positive tone and strong work ethic for the team, leading by example
  • Work with the Baking team to meet production goals set by the Bakery Manager
  • Bake scratch-made products by following WCM's recipes and techniques. Accurately weigh, measure, and mix raw ingredients; consistently scale and shape dough.
  • Develop and improve recipes, test ingredients, and scale recipes for large-scale production
  • Break down truck orders, stock freezer, date product and ensure proper rotation of all pantry items and Bakery stock
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels and order ingredients and supplies for the production area
  • Keep up to date on popular bakery items/trends within the industry
  • Schedule the Baking team, adhering to labor hours set by the Bakery Manager
  • Work closely with the Bakery Manager on tasks such as product quality, production numbers, costs, managing customer orders, tracking shrink, ordering product, and optimizing products in the freezer
  • Keep responsible areas clean and presentable, maintaining general sanitation practices, food safety practices, and food storage practices according to store and health department standards
  • Assist Bakery Manager in cleaning and maintaining Bakery equipment, communicating issues to Bakery or Store Management
  • Attend meetings as directed by Bakery Manager
  • Attend trade shows and trainings as directed by upper management
  • Additional duties as assigned

  • Good multitasking, time management, organizational, communication, leadership, and customer service skills
  • Comprehensive Bakery experience and knowledge of how a successful Bakery runs and operates
  • Experience scratch baking various goods, such as bread, cookies, cakes, donuts, cinnamon rolls, etc.
  • Passion for Baking and attention to detail to ensure exceptional high-quality products
  • Must be able to adhere to an overnight/early morning schedule, and have weekend and holiday availability
Education & Experience:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Extensive commercial baking experience, required
  • Experience in a supervisory or management role within a bakery or food production environment
  • Previous retail experience, preferred
  • Baking/Pastry/Culinary Degree or Certification, preferred
  • ServSafe/Food Safety Certification or willingness to obtain one
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, twisting, lifting, bending, and reaching
  • Occasional instances of pushing, pulling, and squatting
  • Must be able to frequently lift 10-30 pounds and occasionally lift up to 80 pounds
  • Ability to withstand working in both hot and cold environments, e.g. the Bakery Department and walk-in freezer
